To ask players to think about what equitable collective stewardship might take, the relationships, the level of collaboration, the different stakeholders, the behaviours and mental models, and the values. The game also aims to forge connections between the different people playing it, to help them to understand the position of others and to help them to feel inspired about new possibilities enabled by those connections.
It is the year 2026, Our Future Place has launched a new initiative to make community stewardship of places in the city more accessible as a way to catalyse local transformative justice. You have been selected as a group of individuals to pilot this new initiative.
The players must collaborate to sustain and steward a community centre. Each player picks a character and together the characters overcome various challenges on their journey, using the capital resources that they have available. If they fail to sustain and steward the community centre within the time available, the whole table loses the game.
The game is currently in development and under testing for its use as a creative facilitation tool in a workshop environment. We aim to get funding to deepen our impact by making this game publicly available soon. Keep an eye out here to see how it’s going.
